Dealing With Stress In Your Everyday Life

Stress is a response produced by your body when you are subjected to various types of demand, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally. Contrary to what most people believe, stress is not associated with the negative only since excessive positive emotions can result to stress as well. When something that takes place or is about to take place in the environment is producing stress in a person’s body, it results into the release of certain chemicals into your bloodstream.

On the positive side, these chemicals can be utilized to produce more energy or added strength. This is helpful when the cause of your stress is something physical. But when you are dealing with emotional stress, it can cause a negative effect on your body since there is no outlet for releasing that extra boost of energy and strength. Therefore, stress results to various types of emotional or physical responses because each individual’s body respond differently to the stimulus. [Read more...]

Self Hypnosis for Deep Relaxation

Managing Stress through Self Hypnosis

The stress levels of people now are much higher compared before. This is one of the reasons why more and more of them are finding ways to manage stress so as not to affect their overall health. One of the ways that people—especially those that have super stressful jobs—prefer is self hypnosis. This is because the practice can help them relieve and manage stress the most natural means possible.

Why use self hypnosis?

When the word “hypnosis” is mentioned, many people are hesitant to try it because of the common misconception that it can manipulate one to do things beyond his or her wishes. Not many of them realize that this is not always the case. If truth to be told, hypnosis—through self hypnosis—can be one of the best therapeutic tools that a person can use. This is because people can use this in overcoming their fears. It will also be able to help them in withstanding pain and manage varying levels of stress that they experience in their lives. It Always Comes Down to Stress

No matter what I read about anxiety, it always seems to come down to stress. Prolonged stress can cause a lot of physical damage over time including producing hypertension, weight gain or loss, or circulatory problems. Stress also contributes to anxiety by causing the adrenal glands to stop functioning properly. That means you’re not only under a lot of stress, but you are not physically able to handle it. When the adrenaline glands don’t work properly, your moods can begin to shift radically. All of this creates a complete physical and emotional out-of-balance state.

There’s no easy answer to controlling stress. I had to make several lifestyle changes in order to reduce the stress in my life. But once I managed to get stress under control, a lot of my anxiety disappeared too. I simply wasn’t enjoying life while under too much stress. Some of the things I did include getting adequate sleep at night, eating healthier foods, and most importantly, simplifying my life.

Teen Anxiety Attacks: Signs, Symptoms and Remedies

All teens, just like any adult, feel anxious from time to time as a normal reaction to stressors. Going on a date, speaking in public, meeting new people, competing in sports, performing on stage, and taking exams are some of the things that make us feel apprehensive. However, some teens experience severe anxiety than others. Some even feel severe anxiety by just thinking about the situation that has yet to happen. And when someone experiences episodes of panics or develops irrational fear over certain events or problems, it is known as anxiety attack.

When is too much anxiety too much?

Excess anxiety is when you feel worry, anxious and afraid for no apparent reason at all. Under normal circumstances, teens worry because of specific things (like what was mentioned above). But there is an obvious difference between healthy anxiety and irrational anxiousness. Teens during an anxiety attack tend to react disproportionately over simple things or events that seem not to cause any excessive anxious reaction to others. In other words, too much anxiety is an unusual reaction over simple or trivial things. [Read more...]

Dealing with Stress through Humor

Maintaining a sense of humor in difficult situations may sound ridiculous but the fact is, it is an effective way to cope with stress and improve overall well-being. After all, laughter is still the best medicine.

How laughter affects your body and reduces stress?

• Laughter helps reduce hypertension and lowers blood pressure.

• Laughter helps stressed people as well as those with respiratory ailments as it releases stale air from the lungs and body tissues.

• It increases blood circulation.

• It triggers the release of endorphins (also known as happy chemicals), giving you that happy and better feeling.

• It reduces neuroendocrine hormones (stress hormones) related to stress response, such as dopac, cortisol, growth hormones and epinephrine.

• Laughter is an alternative to physical activities as it is a good cardiac conditional, very helpful for people who cannot perform physical exercises. [Read more...]

Stress Management and Weight Loss

bellywithtapeWe have all heard about the usual lament that stress makes people overweight. This is another of those supposed coping mechanism that people under stress adopt. It is only partly true. In reality, when people are stressed out, the body releases cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone in the body that is often triggered by stress. When cortisol is released in higher than normal amounts, it triggers pangs of hunger and then one may eat often to excess. What is worse is that when stress is elevated, cortisol works in a way where it stores fat, especially in the area where we do not like it most, the abdominal region. And then a cycle is started. As one fails to manage stress, eating is resorted to that releases additional cortisol further storing fat in the belly and so it goes on. This affects both men and women in a similar fashion.
