<p>Yoga and meditation can be practiced separately or together, although in order to fully get the benefits of a yoga practice, you&#8217;d technically be meditating while you&#8217;re centered on your yoga breathing. </p>
<p><strong>Benefiting the Mind and Body</strong></p>
<p>The mind and body are often seen as separate entities, but they&#8217;re definitely intertwined. It&#8217;s impossible to separate the functions of one from the other. </p>
<p>For example, if you&#8217;ve ever been anxious or nervous, you know how that feels in your mind. Your thoughts race and you might even be irrational. At the same time, the nervousness has a profound effect on your body. Your heart pumps blood faster and your muscles tighten.</p>

<p>You can start on your path to an anxiety-free life right away and it all starts with a deep breath. Pull the air deep down into your diaphragm, and let it out slowly. Do this several times and you&#8217;ll begin to feel calmer.</p>
<p>Are you breathing effectively? When you take in air, if only the top part of your lungs expands, your chest rises and falls. When you breathe the right way &#8211; the calming way &#8211; your belly rises and falls, not your upper chest, because your entire lungs are being filled with fresh air. </p>
<p>Avoid breathing from your upper chest only and you&#8217;ll already be on the road to feeling calmer and less anxious. It&#8217;s a simple thing to do and a great way to get started. The more you do it, the more it&#8217;ll become automatic. Soon, you&#8217;ll feel calmer without even thinking about your breathing anymore. </p>
<p><strong>Here are some other tips to help you feel calm while praying or meditating:</strong></p>
<p>1.	<strong>Use your breathing like a mantra.</strong> Inhale while you give yourself positive thoughts and feelings. Exhale anything negative you&#8217;re thinking or feeling. Breathing is the rhythm of life. Use it to your advantage.</p>

<p>3.	<strong>Laugh.</strong> Try saying &#8220;ho, ho, ho, he, he, he, ha, ha, ha&#8221; and other silly phrases out loud. When you do, you&#8217;ll start to smile, then grin, and then laugh for real! And when you&#8217;re laughing, you can&#8217;t frown or feel anxious!</p>
<p>4.	<strong>Pray or meditate with others.</strong> Join a church, take up yoga, or find a support group for anxiety. Many others share your struggle, and you can feel better about yourself and more in-tune with others when you share your feelings. </p>
<p><strong>Next Steps</strong></p>
<p>When you start your journey toward personal peace through prayer or meditation, expect to conquer your anxiety. However, avoid the trap of assuming you&#8217;ll do it in one day, or even in one week. It took time to get where you are, and it&#8217;ll take time to get back to where you want to be.</p>
<p>The important thing is to take that first step and then enjoy and appreciate the journey.</p>
<p>Every journey begins with that first step, and once you make it you&#8217;ll be well on your way. Breathe. Laugh. Meditate or pray. Find time to think about and interact with others, rather than concentrating on your worries.</p>
<p>When you do these things, you&#8217;ll become calmer and more focused. Most importantly, you&#8217;ll be back to being happy again, and there&#8217;s no greater gift you can give yourself than joy!</p>

Candles are inexpensive and a great way to relax the mind and body.  You don’t even have to do anything but set some around and light them.</p>
<p><strong>How burning scents around the house guides you to relaxation: </strong></p>
<p>Using candles around the house can relieve much stress and help you to relax after a long hard day. I know, sometimes not all of us just have time to practice meditating yoga or sitting in the hot tub.  We are all just to busy at times, so light those candles and make good use of them. You can buy your candles almost anywhere these days even at the grocery store without spending an arm and leg for them. When buying your candles it doesn’t matter the size or color but the light colors are most effective.  Dark candles will stimulate your mind and you might not be able to get the full of affect of relaxation from them.  Scented candles work the best but if you have a problem with the scented ones unscented will work.</p>
<p><strong>The scents of lavender and how it helps you to relax: </strong></p>
<p>Lavender scent is the best when used for relaxation but choose whatever one you prefer. In fact, after studies were conducted it showed that lavender oils help those who used the scents achieve relaxation. </p>
<p>You can relax a couple different ways with candles besides just lighting them and decorating your home. In fact, if you use your creative mind you will find many ways to use candles as relaxation guides.  </p>
<p>Another way to learn how to relax with candles is to go to a dark room. Light up two or three candles even all the same scent and colors. Breathe deep, slow, and stare at the flame. Start at the bottom of the wick while staring and watch the color changes. While watching, the color changes be meditating at the same time by thinking about something soft and gentle. You will soon notice how much more you feel relaxed than you did when you turned off the light.</p>
<p><strong>Writing relax vertically to relax:</strong></p>
<p>Another way to relax with candles is to write the word relax all around it vertically.  While it is burning, meditate on each letter one at a time. As one letter burns off change your thought to something different. Keep your thinking positive, soft and gentle.</p>
<p><strong>Candles and water relaxing the body and mind: </strong></p>
<p>Water and candles go good together. Place a candle in a bowl and anchor it down with colorful rocks or crystals. Add water around the candle base. When the candle is lit turn off the lights and watch the water turn colors. It is so peaceful in the dark room watching the water change while your mind is think happy thoughts.</p>
<p>A fun way to create a relaxation monument to enjoy after a long stressful day is to make up a basket of spa items and set them in the bathroom.  Make it look nice and pretty so, it will be inviting you every time you go near it. Gather up some candles, bath salts, and body lotions; massage oils all in your favorite color and scent. </p>
<p> Add meditations CD to it so you can meditate while in the bathtub. You’ll hardly be able to wait to get in there and relax before going to bed and sleeping will be much more restful afterwards. Burn candles each day around your home and you will have a relaxing feeling as you enter each room. </p>

<p>People listen to music for a variety of reasons. Those who work out or exercise may listen to upbeat music such as rock or pop. Others may use music as an inspirational tool and choose to listen to top songs with motivational lyrics that they know by heart. Others resort to music for nothing more than just relaxing- perhaps by the pool or for meditative purposes. If this is the sort of music you are looking for, you will most likely find music that features instrumental beats to your liking.</p>
<p>While jazz is perhaps known for its instrumental beats, breaks and showcases, some listeners find these particular beats to be far too busy. If you are seeking instrumental beats to merely chill out to, there are several ambient, electronic and even hip hop genres that features some very good examples of instrumental beats. In fact, these styles have been responsible for creating sub-genres of music such as electronics, &#8220;trip-hop&#8221; and what is known as &#8220;shoe gazing.&#8221;<span id="more-710"></span></p>
<p>If grooving hip hop beats are your preference, you may find artists like Pharcyde to your liking. While the rap and hip hop influence is certainly prominent, you will occasionally find tracks that seem to have been created with the intention of relaxation. These tracks are generally lyric-free and serve as a great musical relaxer. </p>
<p>Artists such as Pharcyde and many others are closely linked to the sub genre known as trip hop. Trip hop is usually known specifically for its chill-out qualities and dominant instrumental beats. Blending the softer, more beat driven styles of jazz with the vocal-free side of hip hop, trip hop is full of beat-filled tracks. Artists such as Portishead, Massive Attack and DJ Shadow are often referred to as pioneers in creating beats and instrumental tracks for this genre.</p>
<p>To go one step further, you may want to look into the genre known simply as &#8220;chill-out&#8221;. The majority of this music is vocal free. Some chill-out artists are known for releasing entire albums of material that are vocal-free instrumental beats. The great thing about chill-out music, as well as its sister brand &#8220;electronica&#8221; is that it borrows qualities from several kinds of music: jazz, rock, hip hop, reggae, even folk music.</p>

Some are easily  recognized while others are more unique.  Meditation walking involves combining the technique of mediation with walking.  Both are extremely effective at eliminating stress. </p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t it typical we overlook the obvious. What&#8217;s the one thing you do when you&#8217;re at the peak of your anxiety when you feel everything is collapsing around you &#8211; walk. Or should I say pace.  You know the feeling your heart is racing, your breathing is shallow, your mind is racing and you begin to pace. You literally feel like you can&#8217;t stand still. </p>
<p>Well how would you like to use some of that natural reaction to your advantage?  Could it be your subconscious mind knows something your conscious mind doesn&#8217;t.  Of course it does. <span id="more-678"></span></p>
<p>When anxiety levels increase walk them away.  Most people walk miles in the course of their daily routine.  If you don&#8217;t believe me try wearing a pedometer for a few days.  This makes walking a good opportunity to practice quieting the mind.  Focus on the act of walking much the same way you focus on breathing or repeating a mantra in sitting meditation.  This can be done indoors or outdoors but you&#8217;ll feel a lot  better walking outdoors since you&#8217;ll have the advantage of getting some sun and fresh air and getting away from everything and everybody. </p>
<p>The purpose of meditation is to focus on the present moment. Practice this simple exercise for 15 to 30 minutes. </p>
<p>1. Stand and relax your abdominal muscles.  Take a few deep breaths to relax.  Begin walking.  As  you walk try to continue to breath in this relaxed state.  Mentally repeat the word &#8220;in&#8221; with each inhalation and &#8220;out&#8221; with each exhalation as you walk. </p>
<p>2. Try to coordinate it so that one of your feet touches the ground at the beginning of each in  breath and each out breath.  See how many steps seem natural to talk during each inhalation and each exhalation. </p>
<p>3. Pay attention to sensations while walking.  Concentrate on your feet and legs.  Notice which muscles contract and which relax as you lift your legs up and down.  And while your at it pay attention to the ground focus your eyes out a few feet in front of you. </p>
<p>4. Your mind will drift to thinking about things as you walk.  Don&#8217;t beat yourself up about it just refocus on the words &#8220;in&#8221; and &#8220;out&#8221; and your walking strive. </p>
<p>So instead of taking an ordinary walk take a meditative walk. Just make sure your aware of traffic and crossing the street, and other walking hazards.  In this technique you not only get the benefit of clearing the mind with meditation you also have the advantage of exercising the body.    If you can devote the time, there is no better exercise for eliminating stress. </p>

A person who is riddled with problems often finds it hard to focus; which often leads to more problems cropping up due to their mistakes. Meditation techniques helps a person achieve a calm state of mind without having to resort to drugs or relaxation tools and implements. Every step to meditation is done in the mind. </p>
<p>Remember that meditation is not a one shot deal. It is almost impossible to attain a calm state of mind in just a matter of minutes, especially if it&#8217;s your first time at it. It is essential that you keep on practicing meditation until you have conditioned your mind to instantaneously achieve the state just by thinking it. </p>
<p>Here are some steps for a beginner to start with meditation as their Stress Management strategy. </p>
<p><strong>Step 1: Find A Quiet Corner To Start Your Meditation</strong></p>
<p>Distraction is a hindrance to those who are still starting out with meditation. When you close your eyes, your sense of hearing will be twice as good so it is quite possible to hear almost anything in your surroundings that will make it hard for you to concentrate.<span id="more-649"></span></p>
<p>For beginners, it is important to start out in a quiet place in your home where noise is non-existent. Close your windows and lock your door. If possible, you can tell everyone in your home to minimize their noise so that you won&#8217;t get distracted. </p>
<p><strong>Step 2: Ready Your Position</strong></p>
<p>It is advisable for beginners to avoid lying down when practicing meditation. The aim here is not to sleep, and it is a guarantee that you will immediately fall off to sleep if your mind reaches a relaxed state. To stop this from happening, you can start your meditation in a lotus position or you can find a chair you can sit on. Make sure that your back is straight and your hands are relaxed on the armrest or on your lap. </p>
<p><strong>Step 3: Begin Your Meditation With Proper Breathing</strong></p>
<p>A good way to start meditation is to do the proper breathing exercise. You inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. This way, you can come up with a rhythm that you can easily focus on. Also, the amount of oxygen in your body will be enough to keep you relaxed. Keep practicing your breathing until you can do it easily without having to think about it. </p>
<p><strong>Step 4: Focus On Your Mind</strong></p>
<p>While you are busy with your <a href="http://9df136r351bsblb15oldqci905.hop.clickbank.net/">breathing,</a> you will achieve a state wherein your mind will start throwing images at you. These are mostly in random &#8212; events of the day, future plans, problems and worries, fears and so on. It will be hard to ignore these thoughts and you are not supposed to ignore them. The gist here is to focus on these thoughts without really paying any attention to it. </p>
<p>This might sound hard but a here is a simple example to understand the concept. You know that you have furniture at home &#8212; you can see them clearly with your eyes but you are not really concentrating on it. Focusing on the furniture will usually make you think of its color, its material, how it looks in that part of your home, and more. You need to be able to look at these random thoughts in a detached state &#8212; seeing them clearly in your head but not focusing your attention on it. </p>
<p>There will come a time that these random thought will stop and you will notice that you are already in a blank space in your mind. This is the place where you can think about your problems and focus on it till you can find a solution for it. With this, you have successfully mastered the basics of meditation for your stress management program. </p>

<p><b>Relaxation &#8212; what is it?</b></p>
<p>Relaxation is the opposite of stress. It helps reduce tension levels and reverse the symptoms associated with stress. We are also better able to cope with future stressful situations. It is well worth finding time each day to relax.</p>
<p><b>Why is it so important?</b></p>
<p>When we are relaxed, stress is reduced. Symptoms of stress disappear since it is very hard for our bodies to feel stressed and relaxed at the same time. This in itself calms us mentally. We no longer feel anxious, our thoughts have calmed and we are at ease once more.</p>
<p><b>Relaxation, stress relief and mood enhancers</b></p>
<p><span id="more-619"></span></p>
<p>Here are some ideas to help you relax and reduce stress. Remember you know yourself best, so do whatever suits you and makes you happy.</p>
<p>Exercise. Experts emphasise the importance of exercise in our life. Research indicates that just 10 minutes of exercise is all that is needed to put people in a more positive mood. Exercise has been shown to enhance self-esteem and lower anxiety and depression.</p>
<p>Attend a yoga class, or buy a DVD or book, which you can use at home.</p>
<p>Try Tai Chi.</p>
<p>Deep breathing. This is particularly helpful when faced with a potentially stressful situation. Breathe slowly in through your nose, filling your lungs as you do so, then release the air slowly out through your mouth.</p>
<p>Laugh!</p>
<p>Think about a funny video. Research has shown that by just thinking about a funny video reduced stress hormones.</p>
<p>Listen to a relaxation CD.</p>
<p>Talk to someone &#8212; whether it is a friend, family member or counsellor.</p>
<p>Get yourself a pet. A study in America had stockbrokers look after a pet. When they later encountered a situation that would normally cause stress, these stockbrokers’ blood pressure levels were half that of those who did not get to look after a pet.</p>
<p>Have a massage.</p>
<p>Have a bath. Use your favourite oils and for maximum relaxation light some candles.</p>
<p>Read a book. This is such an easy way to escape the world for a while.</p>
<p>Indulge in your favourite hobby. You could always try something new, that you know you will enjoy.</p>
<p>Eat a healthy diet.</p>
<p>Limit your intake of alcohol and caffeine.</p>
<p>Don’t smoke.</p>
<p>Take your annual leave. Give yourself regular breaks and try to slot a regular vacation into your schedule.</p>
<p>Sleep well.</p>
<p>Praise yourself. It’s easy to rely on others to praise our actions. However we get disappointed when this doesn’t happen. So to avoid disappointment, give yourself a pat on the back instead.</p>
<p><b>Specific relaxation strategies</b></p>
<p>These techniques are very effective in bringing about relaxation. At first, they may take a while to master, but once there, you’ll wonder how you ever coped without them.</p>
<p><u>Progressive Muscle Relaxation</u></p>
<p>Find a warm, comfortable room, free from interruption. Wear loose comfortable clothing. If you have a relaxation CD, use it, although it is not necessary. Follow these steps:</p>
<ul>
<li>Lie on your back or sit down in a comfortable position.</li>
<li>Rest your arms at your sides, palms facing down.</li>
<li>Inhale and exhale slowly and deeply.</li>
<li>As you breathe, clench your hands into fists and squeeze them for 15 seconds. Focus on your fists only, feeling the tension in the muscles.</li>
<li>Then let your hands relax. Feel the release of tension from the muscles.</li>
<li>Continue in this way working through your body.</li>
<li>You will want to tense and relax your face, shoulders, back, stomach, pelvis, legs, feet, and toes.</li>
<li>Hold for 15 seconds and then relax your body for 30 seconds before moving on. As you relax, your body will feel like it is sinking into the ground.</li>
<li>By the end your body will feel really heavy and relaxed. Lie still for a moment, enjoying this state of being.</li>
</ul>
<p><u>Quieting response</u></p>
<p>This technique is useful if you have limited time. </p>
<ul>
<li>Find a space free from interruption.</li>
<li>Begin by closing your eyes. Imagine yourself to be calm and relaxed.</li>
<li>Breathe in slowly and calmly. As you breathe out, release all the tension within you.</li>
<li>Imagine you are inhaling calm and exhaling stress, freeing it from your body.</li>
<li>Continue this way until you feel your body and mind are relaxed.</li>

<p>You have been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately and it is starting to take over each corner of your life. <p>The first steps to complete relaxation would be for you to fully commit to it. Each day, you should set aside twenty to thirty minutes for this process.
