You want both to go smoothly, but sometimes you&#8217;ll find that you&#8217;re paying too much attention to one and neglecting the other. </p>
<p>Instead of just getting frustrated, tell yourself that it&#8217;s time to stop struggling! There are some easy strategies you can use to help you.</p>
<p><strong>Try these techniques to better balance your work and home life:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1.	Use a planner. </strong>You can save yourself a lot of time just by planning out your days. Include both business and personal commitments to ensure that you&#8217;re using your time effectively. </p>
<p><strong>2.	Be flexible.</strong> While it&#8217;s important to plan a schedule, include room for a certain amount of flexibility. If you&#8217;re schedule is too rigid, it&#8217;s easy to become stressed out. Leave some time for new commitments and have a Plan B in mind for tasks that could take longer than anticipated.</p>
<p>•	If you find that you&#8217;ve been spending too much time on work or home life one week, shift your focus over to the other one for the following week. </p>
<p><strong>3.	Maintain communication.</strong> Many times you&#8217;re not the only one who&#8217;s suffering when you&#8217;re having trouble balancing your work and home life. Let your work partners know when you need to spend extra time with personal commitments and let your family know when work will be taking up extra time and focus.</p>
<p>•	Plan some extra quality time for the neglected party. For example, if you need to work late one day, see if you can take off early the next. If you can&#8217;t spare the time, then plan some quality time with your loved ones to make your time together even more special.</p>
<p><strong>4.	Have backups who you can call on.</strong> Even with good planning skills, sometimes things come up that tend to throw everything awry. This is when advance planning for someone to back you up will help you to stay on track. </p>
<p>•	If you must be away from work for personal issues, have someone cover for you, if possible, so you&#8217;re not overwhelmed when you return to your regular schedule.</p>
<p>•	If you need to spend too much time away from home due to work commitments, plan some fun activities for the kids with relatives or friends and have someone agree to help with the housework. This way, you won&#8217;t face a total mess when you return to your regular home life. </p>
<p><strong>5.	Take breaks.</strong> Even on your busiest days, schedule in some time for yourself, even if it&#8217;s only 15 minutes in a relaxing bath. This time gives you a chance to recoup from the stresses of the day and you can return to your tasks renewed and refreshed. Take short breaks at work, too. When you finish your break, you&#8217;ll be more productive.</p>
<p><strong>6.	Avoid wasting time with worrying.</strong> If you&#8217;re worried about home when you&#8217;re at work, and worried about work when you&#8217;re at home, then you aren&#8217;t truly using your time wisely. If your head isn&#8217;t in the moment, you&#8217;ll have a hard time spending quality time to get things done and moving forward.</p>
<p>•	Focus on what you need to do in each moment and get it done so there&#8217;s more time left to do what you really want to do!</p>

When you successfully manage your time, what do you do differently? If you know what to work on, that&#8217;s half the battle right there. </p>

<p><strong>1.	Avoid procrastination.</strong> If you make a habit of procrastinating, you&#8217;re just wasting precious time. Ask yourself why you&#8217;re putting things off, and try to tackle the root problem. When you do, you&#8217;ll get back on track in no time. </p>

This is no different for homeschooling parents. If you’re thinking about homeschooling your children, you may wonder how to balance your daily life as a homeschool mom. It is possible and these tips can help you.</p>
<p>Some families handle day-to-day life by creating detailed charts or schedules for each family member. They know what time breakfast is, how long to plan for each homeschool subject, what time they’ll eat lunch every day, how much free time they have, and when they’ll eat dinner. However, there’s no reason to believe this type of scheduling is necessary in order to balance your daily life as a homeschooling family.</p>
<p>Other families are opposite of the ones described above. They live life by the seat of their pants. They don’t plan elaborate schedules but prefer to take life as it comes. They may keep a calendar so they know about important appointments or events, but that’s as close as they get to a schedule. For them, living life one day at a time is about experiencing life as it happens rather than depending upon a piece of paper to dictate when they do things.<span id="more-1022"></span></p>
<p>Does this mean that one method of balancing daily life is better than the other? Of course not! Part of the benefit of homeschooling is learning what works best for your own family. This may take time and some trial and error, but you will soon find yourself falling into a routine of sorts that is best for you.</p>
<p>Create an area in your home where you have access to good books and music. Having good resources around gives your child someplace to turn when they want to learn something. And the benefit is if they are interested on their own, they’re learning without realizing it. This method is often referred to as delight-driven or “unschooling.” It enables children to learn what interests them and allows Mom to be able to concentrate on taking care of the home rather than sitting with the child while they learn. Of course, even homeschooling moms know it’s important to be available when their child needs help, but they don’t feel obligated to remain right there with them.</p>
<p>Use real life events to help your child learn. If you’re cooking dinner, have your homeschooled child help you determine how much milk is needed if the recipe calls for one-third cup of something but you’re tripling the recipe. When you plan a trip to the grocery store, have your child write out the list of items needed. Then, while you’re walking through the store, have them help you determine which box potatoes is cheaper based on the cost and number of ounces are in the box. Both of these activities teach your child how math is important for daily life.</p>
<p>Get your children to help you with household duties. They can learn how to cook, sort clothing, do laundry, and stack dishes in a dishwasher. Not only will they be learning skills which will be helpful for their future, it will also make your job easier; you can also count the time they’re learning those skills as home economics &#8211; whether they’re boys or girls.</p>
<p>There are many things to can do to balance your daily life as a homeschool mom. Don’t feel like you have to do everything yourself. Let your partner work with your children on some of the subjects you feel uncomfortable teaching. Have your children help you with household duties. After some time you will be able to find what works best for your family so your life is more or less balanced.</p>

Sometimes, the days just don&#8217;t seem long enough to do everything we want to do. When that happens, worry can set in, but it doesn&#8217;t have to!</p>
<p>You can do more than you ever thought was possible, and in less time too, giving yourself time to relax and really enjoy life!</p>
<p>It all begins with a solid foundation of time management and scheduling. It&#8217;s okay if you&#8217;re not a good time manager right now, you can learn to be. It just takes a little bit of practice and you&#8217;ll soon be getting more and more done.</p>
<p>When you see how much you&#8217;re accomplishing, you&#8217;ll work even harder during your busy times, and enjoy those down times more thoroughly.<span id="more-1013"></span></p>
<p><strong>These scheduling strategies will help you become an expert manager of your time:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1.	Schedule your life for maximum benefit. </strong>You can avoid procrastination and the big stressed-out rush to meet a deadline by scheduling each day and using just a bit of self-discipline to stick to your schedule. </p>
<p>•	It helps to break things down into smaller tasks. For example, do you have a big presentation coming up at work in two weeks? Don&#8217;t try to do it the night before it&#8217;s due. Start now. Working for just a half hour each day can help you get that presentation done with plenty of time to spare.</p>
<p>•	By scheduling your day according to your priorities, you can better utilize the time that you might otherwise have wasted doing unproductive things, like watching television or waiting for the next item on your to-do list to come to you.</p>
<p><strong>2.	Disallow doubts from getting in your way. </strong>That little voice in the back of your mind that tells you, &#8220;It&#8217;s too much work,&#8221; or &#8220;It&#8217;s not going to happen,&#8221; doesn&#8217;t know what it&#8217;s talking about!</p>
<p>•	You can do anything you set your mind to. Keep that thought in mind as you go through your day. The more you think it &#8211; or even say it out loud &#8211; the more you&#8217;ll internalize and believe it. </p>
<p>•	When you remind yourself how much you&#8217;re capable of doing, you&#8217;ll work harder so you can reap the rewards of being done with work.</p>
<p>•	No matter how you reward yourself, make it a point to do so regularly. Finished that presentation? Take the evening off and watch your favorite movie! Whatever reward works for you is a good one &#8211; as long as the work&#8217;s done first. </p>
<p><strong>3.	Recognize when you&#8217;re getting stressed and why.</strong> Sometimes, in an effort to get more done, you&#8217;ll find that you aren&#8217;t getting the time for yourself that you&#8217;d hoped for. When this happens, stop and reassess your schedule.</p>
<p>•	Are you following your agenda? Are you productive during your scheduled working times? Are you meeting your goals? Where can you make changes for better success?</p>
<p>•	Do you concentrate and get your work done during your working hours? If not, you may find that you still have to work when you should be relaxing. This is a vicious circle that leaves you feeling stressed, while getting nowhere. </p>
<p><strong>4.	Eliminate your stressors while building in stress relief. </strong>Think about the following as you go about your workday:</p>
<p>•	By focusing during working hours, you&#8217;ll complete each task much sooner. Get your drudgery tasks out of the way as quickly as possible to make more time for more enjoyable tasks. </p>
<p>•	Work time is for work only &#8211; so avoid distractions. Ringing phones and other issues can stop you from accomplishing your work. Forward calls to your voice mail and establish &#8220;do not disturb&#8221; times. You&#8217;ll be amazed at how much work you can get done without distractions!</p>
<p>•	If you complete your tasks early, keep working until your schedule says it&#8217;s time to stop. Perhaps you can tackle some work for the next day to get ahead. Being a little ahead gives you the flexibility to take care of inevitable emergencies without falling behind in productivity. </p>
<p>•	Recognize when you need a break. People are not machines so your schedule should reflect that. Realistic break times should be part of even the busiest schedule.</p>
<p>By planning your time wisely, you&#8217;ll accomplish more and be able to reap the many benefits of true relaxation when you&#8217;re done. It&#8217;s well worth the effort!</p>

When you have your to-do list in hand, you&#8217;re freeing your mind from all the disorganized thoughts and, instead, getting them down on paper.</p>
<p>However, this technique can go awry if your to-do list isn&#8217;t organized as well as it should be. You might lose your motivation and drive and, at the end of the day, you may notice that most of the things from your list are not crossed off.</p>
<p>Follow these tips to create an effective to-do list:</p>
<p>1.	<strong>Clarify Priorities.</strong> It may help you to develop some sort of ranking system for your to-do list. Certainly every item on the list can&#8217;t be equally important. You can even use a number system and rank them from 1 to 5. Items ranked 1 might have a lower priority, while the 5s are tasks you should attend to first.<span id="more-829"></span></p>
<p>•	You should also clarify your priorities in the sense that you need to leave yourself detailed instructions. Figure out the: who, what, where, when and why of items that may be complicated. This way, when it comes time to tackle the task, you won&#8217;t skip over them simply because they seem too complex to complete. </p>
<p>2.	<strong>Pare Down the List. </strong>You need to complete tasks or part of tasks one step at a time. If you have 15 minutes to spare, find something on the list that you can complete in that time period. It&#8217;s common to tell yourself that 15 minutes is not enough time to do something, but all those 15-minute chunks add up to something huge. At the end of the day you&#8217;ll be surprised how much you&#8217;ve accomplished in small increments. </p>
<p>3.	<strong>Include Flex Time.</strong> If your to-do list is too rigid, it simply won&#8217;t be effective. You absolutely need to include some flexibility and breathing room in your day. Try not to jam pack your day with unreasonable goals, otherwise, you&#8217;ll be at risk of disappointment.</p>
<p>4.	<strong>Add in Something Fun.</strong> Your to-do list is no doubt full of things you may not be looking forward. That&#8217;s why integrating fun activities and tasks should also be a priority! When you add in a fun item it doesn&#8217;t feel like work. It may even feel like a break. When you return to the less desirable items, you&#8217;ll be more motivated to actually get them done.</p>
<p>5.	<strong>Don&#8217;t List Too Much.</strong> It&#8217;s vital not to overwhelm yourself. While some days might be action packed in order to reach certain deadlines, you need to avoid this level of stress on a regular basis. If there&#8217;s too much on your plate, or you have to work too fast, you can&#8217;t possibly enjoy yourself and you&#8217;ll only end up frustrated and overwhelmed.</p>
<p>6.	<strong>Keep It Organized.</strong> Your list needs to be organized in a way that makes you feel comfortable. There are many options nowadays, especially with digital devices. However, the old-fashioned pen and paper method may be what works best for you. You can also opt for using the internet or even your cell phone or mobile device to keep your list organized.</p>

<p>Have you ever caught yourself thinking that you are always busy?  No matter what many of us try to do, we are always fighting a deadline, checking off a to do list, and adding dates to your calendar.  We live in a busy world and often there are not enough hours in the day to complete all that you need to do.</p>
<p>If you feel overwhelmed by your long lists, do not fret.  Lucky for us, there are many time management techniques that you can quickly learn and make a part of your life.  Time management techniques help to take the stress out of your daily life and maximize your time effectively.</p>
<p><strong>Reducing clutter</strong></p>
<p>Most of us become stressed out at work because we are not organized.  Folders, notes, and papers usually consume our desks and make it hard to find what you need.  There is no such thing as “organized clutter” and if you are telling yourself that you are able to work in those conditions and that it is not the clutter that is stressing you out, and then you are fooling yourself.  One such time management technique that will really help save you time is to organize your desk.  Label all of your files and organize them alphabetically, place pens and pencils in a jar and place it to your right for easy access, purchase baskets that slide into your desk and organize the contents inside, and throw away all useless papers.  By taking 10 minutes or so every morning to organize your desk, you will save yourself a lot of time searching for things that you need.<span id="more-324"></span></p>
<p><strong>Organize your day</strong></p>
<p>Decide what needs to be done first in your day and complete it first.  Examples include spending the first two hours of your day making calls and checking e-mails.  Those tend to be the most important tasks of the day and you will feel much better if you complete them first thing in the morning.  That way too, if for some reason they take longer than two hours to complete, you have the time to complete them.  Plan meetings for the middle part of the day.  That way if for some reason you are late to work, you are never late to a meeting and your stress level is not as high.  Plus, you can always have a working lunch and kill two birds with one stone. Use the last hours of your day to plan for upcoming meetings, schedule appointments, or return any e-mails and phone calls that may have come during the middle portion of your day.  The last 15 minutes of your shift should be spent organizing your desk for the next day so that when you walk into your office, you walk into a clean, workable area.</p>
<p><strong>To Do List</strong></p>
<p>Make sure that you have a calendar directly in front of you at desk and use it.  Mark important meetings and deadlines in bold so that they stand out at you.  Every evening before you leave, write a to do list, for the next day and have it sitting out for you to easily see.  On that list rate the things that are the most important to complete at the top, along with a time frame for each item.  Be realistic with your times and maybe even allocate more time than needed.  As you complete each item, check it off.  At the end of your day, whatever is not checked off add it to your new to do list.</p>
<p>Time management techniques are not only helpful at the office, but can be completed anywhere.  Keep a social calendar at home as well as a to do list.  Use the same techniques at home that you would use at your office, especially the one about keeping a clean area.  You will me amazed at how much calmer your life becomes and how the word stress will not be a part of your vocabulary.</p>

<p>Believe it or not you DO have time for everything. The fact of the matter is you often feel stressed and overwhelmed because you misuse time during your work day. Have you ever been so busy that you sabotage yourself by doing nothing useful? Now that&#8217;s overwhelm!</p>

<p>Fortunately, with just a few small adjustments to your mindset and daily routine you will be delighted at how quickly you can stop feeling overwhelmed and start feeling empowered in your business. Here are seven overlooked, but powerful strategies to get you started:</p>
<p><b>Get rid of the do-it-yourself mentality</b></p>
<p>Stop micromanaging and start delegating. Learn to say &#8220;no&#8221; and feel good about it! Leverage your resources. Outsource duties and responsibilities that weaken you and drain your energy. Better to spend your time on the vision and passion that was the catalyst for your business. Consider using a virtual assistant or freelancers.</p>

Have vendors send all statements by email instead of snail mail. You will have hard copies that are easy to download and access when you need it. Just think, less mail to sort through, open, file or toss!</p>
<p><b>Establish routines</b></p>
<p>Set aside 15-30 minutes a day to review administrative tasks, create menus for a week, coordinate business and personal commitments. Try grouping similar tasks together. Establishing these kinds of routines allows you to release the worry about tackling all of your tasks in a giant block of time.</p>
<p><b>Prioritize your tasks</b></p>
<p>To begin with, get clear about what is important in your life. Most people spend 80% of their time trying to complete 20% of their tasks. Do what must be done, not what feels comfortable. Don&#8217;t skip over difficult items when working through the list. Spend that extra 10 minutes to prioritize what must be done for the day. Do those things and forget the rest.</p>
<p><b>Schedule &#8220;unscheduled&#8221; time daily</b></p>
<p>When you are scheduling tasks and appointments for the day, leave 20% of your time unscheduled to allow for emergencies and interruptions. One of the biggest sources of overwhelm is scheduling yourself too heavy. Invariably a glitch happens that throws your whole schedule off. Save yourself the headache and frustration, leave a portion of your day &#8220;free&#8221; to handle unexpected situations that may come up.</p>
<p><b>Avoid perfection</b></p>
<p>You are only setting yourself up to fail. When you try to complete difficult tasks perfectly, you will only end up avoiding them. Just get started. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly at the start. Do the best you can in the moment and be happy with your job.</p>
