<p>Everything about a day spa is meant to help you relax and de-stress. From the colors of the rooms, the lights, and furnishings to the sights, sounds, and smells, the goal is to produce a sense of calm in their clients. In your drive for excellence, you may take on so many projects that life often seems chaotic. In the midst of doing it all, do you remember to take time for yourself? </p>
<p>Spending time on YOU is critical! It enables you to feel rested, calm, stress-free, and fulfilled. When you&#8217;ve had proper rest, you can accomplish more and maintain the stamina to continue.</p>
<p>On the other hand, if you neglect to make time for yourself, you&#8217;re more likely to become depressed, stressed, or unhappy.</p>
<p>Perhaps you feel that there&#8217;s just not enough time for you. Somewhere in the mix, you lost any time you ever had for yourself. However, the good news is that, with some creativity and perseverance, you can recapture some of that critical you-time!<span id="more-807"></span></p>
<p>Consider using these strategies to reap some rejuvenating time for yourself:</p>
<p>1.	<strong>Pencil yourself in. </strong>Make time for yourself by adding it as a priority in your schedule. As you fill out your planner, include it along with your other important tasks and stick to the appointment!</p>
<p>2.	<strong>Give yourself 15 minutes when you get home.</strong> Insist on at least 15 minutes of recoup and rejuvenation time when you get home from work. If you have to lock yourself away from stressors or even family members, than that&#8217;s what you must do! This time allows you to properly transition from your work life to your home life.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Explain this new technique to your family</strong> so that they understand its importance. This way, no one feels like you&#8217;re just avoiding them!</p>
<p>•	A simple strategy is to <strong>soak in the bath for 15 minutes.</strong> The water will relax you, and you&#8217;ll feel refreshed after a long day.</p>
<p>3.	<strong>Take advantage of your lunch break.</strong> Your lunch break is there for you to do what you please. After you eat, make good use of your time by going for a walk, exercising, listening to inspiring music, or even get in a bit of shopping if that&#8217;s what relaxes you.</p>
<p>4.	<strong>Enjoy a break while the kids nap.</strong> Here&#8217;s a good tip for stay at home moms. Give yourself some much needed &#8220;you&#8221; time whenever your children sleep. You might be tempted to get as much work done as you can while they&#8217;re asleep, but you&#8217;ll find you actually get more done if you give yourself a chance to rest and rejuvenate yourself.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Explore new ways of accomplishing things</strong> like household tasks while your kids are up. For example, turn chores into learning games that you can all participate in. </p>
<p>5.	<strong>Go to sleep earlier.</strong> Going to sleep earlier at night will enable you to get up in time to enjoy some morning &#8220;me&#8221; time. Just think how pleasant it would be to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning without having to look at your watch.</p>
<p>6.	<strong>Take a vacation day.</strong> Take a vacation day to just relax and do whatever you like. You don&#8217;t have to take a trip to take a vacation! Time spent on your favorite hobbies will also rejuvenate you. When you return to work, your renewed energy may surprise you!</p>
<p>At first glance, these strategies may look difficult to implement into your busy routine. A good way to get started with them is to incorporate just one at a time. That way, you only have to adjust to one small change. As you become accustomed to that one strategy, you can add another, and then another, until one day you&#8217;ll find that making time for yourself is easy.</p>
<p>Once you learn to make time for you, you&#8217;ll have more energy and time to enjoy the good things life has to offer.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s not enough to read about stress relief strategies and have knowledge about them you must practice and use them to be effective. </p>
<p>Remember, the times when you need stress relief strategies the most are the times of crisis when we&#8217;re least likely to use them unless they&#8217;ve been practiced and made an important part of our daily life. </p>
<p>Too often we look for change from without rather then from within.  The traditional medical model of treatment is offer a pill as the solution to all that ails you.  But you&#8217;re in the drivers seat. </p>
<p>Once you have mastered a few stress relief strategies as the song goes &#8220;ain&#8217;t no stopping us now&#8221;.  Having a sense of your own personal power is self motivating for you to continue on your path of learning and health. </p>
<p>None of this has to be difficult.  It  should be a lot of fun. </p>
<p>I recommend a daily routine to my clients.  Now let&#8217;s jump start your stress relief program now: <span id="more-674"></span></p>
<p><strong>Peaceful wakeup call</strong></p>
<p>Forget stumbling out of bed every morning at the last minute.  Begin a wake up habit that is peaceful. Take a few breaths and become aware of your breathing.  Concentrate your attention on different parts of you body.  Repeat an affirmation of your choice and set your intention for the day. </p>
<p><strong>Step back and observe your worry </strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s hard to change something if you don&#8217;t understand it.  So become aware of you worry about  and keep a daily journal.  You will identify you anxious thoughts and observe how they make you feel.  Remember that most of what you imagine will happen never will. Most chronic worrier fear some catastrophic outcome.   So don&#8217;t worry before you need to. </p>
<p><strong>Self acceptance </strong></p>
<p>Self acceptance is your ability to accept yourself with compassion and without self criticism, self evaluation or self judgment.  Stop for a moment and consider these words &#8220;I okay the way I am&#8221;  Now watch out for your next thoughts.  Did you add a &#8220;but&#8221; behind that sentence.  The easiest way to master this is to accept yourself just for that moment.  That&#8217;s not too hard.  Don&#8217;t think of the past or even beyond the moment.  Accept yourself moment by moment. </p>
<p><strong>Self talk to change your attitude </strong></p>
<p>Negative statements about  yourself erode your self worth. When doubt sneaks in, it brings you  down by lowering your confidence and self-esteem. Self-talk is it&#8217;s not hypnosis or subliminal but a repletion of the positive ideas concepts and affirmations that you say, or listen to over a period of time.  Let me give you an examples. Instead of going to work and saying &#8220;I don&#8217;t feel like working today&#8221;  with your new self-talk say &#8220;I&#8217;m so happy to have a job&#8221;.  Remember your rephrasing your old self-talk with new ones. </p>
<p><strong>Speak up for yourself.</strong> </p>
<p>Be able to give your own opinion.  Don&#8217;t expect everyone to agree with you and don&#8217;t expect to agree with everyone else.  That&#8217;s just not realistic.  Your opinions are valid and you need to respect your own voice. </p>

<p>Embracing a more simplistic lifestyle for new teachers means balancing the time between work and more quiet domains of life. Bringing back simplicity means reconnecting with extended family and friends and rediscovering the pleasure in the small things you used to do for yourself. Teachers are constantly wound up by so many little yet important areas of planning, teaching and assessing that by the time they reach home, they are still thinking about school and find it difficult to disengage from school mentally because planning takes so much time and effort.</p>
<p><strong>How can teachers adapt a more simplistic lifestyle?</strong></p>
<p><span id="more-102"></span></p>
<p>Simplicity is a state of mind and a state of being. It is a concept embedded in the here and now. Teachers can easily take advantage of this state of being in terms of connecting with those small moments that allow them to give more of themselves to their families without feeling restricted and bound to a schedule. New teachers who are especially (new) mothers, often feel guilty of not being enough with their children when they&#8217;re with their students and not spending enough time with their students when they&#8217;re with their children. </p>
<p><strong>So with that said, here are a few new teacher tips</strong>:</p>
<p>
<ul>
<li>take a walk with your child on a nature trail. Breathe deeply.</li>
</p>
<p>
<li>invigorate the five senses</li>
</p>
<p>
<li>reflect and relive memories with an old friend or family member</li>
</p>
<p>
<li>practice gratefulness for living: a wholesome attitude that comes from within.</li>
</p>
<p>
<li>meditate, find your own serenity prayer</li>
</p>
<p>
<li>sit and write in your journal.</li>
</p>
<p>
<li>make a special time out for family and friends.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Experiment but Enjoy Your Time</strong></p>
<p>Give yourself a week to two to experiment with your new activities. Are you noticing any changes? Are you expending your energy well? Do you have time to pursue old pastimes and still nurture your family on a level that is satisfying to everyone involved?</p>

<p><b>What causes you stress</b></p>
<p>Often a first step in stress management is to identify the stressors in your life and how you deal with them.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you can&#8217;t identify the cause of the issue, then you will not be able to fix it&#8221; is also true of stress management.</p>
<p>A stress diary can help you to monitor the situations and your responses to the situations that cause you physical and emotional stress.</p>

<p><b>Practice daily meditation</b><br />
You don&#8217;t need to wear robes and sit on top of a mountain to meditate. In fact millions of people every day benefit from meditation. Meditation relaxes and calms the mind. However meditation activates the relaxation response which directly counters stress. It can reduce tension, and also lower the levels of stress hormones that are released into the blood following stress.<br />
Spending 10-15 minutes a day meditating is a great buffer against daily stress.</p>
<p><b>Learning to say &#8220;No&#8221;</b><br />
Do you put your hand up to do extra things when diary is already jam packed with engagements? Do you often miss deadlines or feel pressured by time?</p>
<p>If so then it may be time to learn to say &#8220;No&#8221;. Learning to say &#8220;No&#8221; involves setting boundaries in your life.</p>
<p>I know that I used to have real trouble saying &#8220;no&#8221;. Regardless of how much work I had to do, I still put up my hand for more. However, in the end, by not learning to say &#8220;no&#8221; I learnt the hard way that I was working on other people&#8217;s priorities rather than my own. By creating boundaries and learning to say &#8220;No&#8221; you create time for you to pursue things that are meaningful to you.</p>
<p><b>Plan your work and work your plan</b><br />
A lack of time is one the greatest causes of stress. Are you jumping from crises to crises? Do you feel that you are working really hard, but unable to get through the day?<br />
